More Chilling in Coral Bay

Monday 5th May 2008

I went for a walk before breakfast to check out the lay of the land – some action was required after lolling around yesterday. The tide was right in so I couldn’t actually explore the beach, the highest point in Coral Bay is a little hillock above the beach which took all of a couple of minutes to climb and the ‘shopping centre’ consisted of about five shops so exploring didn’t take long!

Paul and the girls ventured back to the beach and snorkelled to their heart’s content while I wrote and uploaded some blog and played with photos. I managed to work out how to use my phone as the modem so got access to the internet but was super cautious about reaching our data limit so didn’t actually do much!

In the late afternoon we went on an Eco-tour – ha ha – how can it be ‘eco’ when we were whizzing around on quad bikes? Paul and I took the girls on the back on followed on a tour around the local dunes and beaches. It was excellent fun and the girls loved the bumps and turns as much as we did. We went south to supposedly see some turtles but the tide was out so they weren’t close in and we only saw a couple of heads. Holly and Paul snorkelled while Katie and I checked out some rocks. The sunset didn’t materialise due to a large amount of clouds gathering on the horizon but we did find a big sandy patch where we could do some great skidding turns in deep sand.

Having cooked for ourselves for two nights we decided we deserved a treat so we trotted in to Fins Cafe for some tucker. We didn’t have far to trot – it is at the entrance to our campsite!
