It was very nice to have no pressing engagements or places to go and, most particularly, no camper trailer to pack up!We wandered in to town and swapped some more books – Holly traded in the two Agatha Christies she’d read in as many days and got herself another bundle and Paul found another Stephen King he hadn’t read.
The supermarket was next which was a little stressful for me because I felt under pressure to make sure we got all the necessaries to cover us for our two week (or so) Gibb River Road odyssey. Getting it home I realised that we could’ve got more cold stuff – the fridge is like a Tardis (is that a nice obscure reference for you, Eleanor?!) if you pack it right.
More pool adventures were had while Paul made sure all his business affairs were in order and booked the camper in to fix up the wires – good news and bad news.... it was good that he found someone who would do it tomorrow morning but it was a little less good that we need to be there at 7am! That is going to be a challenge!
I fixed up the drawer with some super glue and finally got around to removing one small side panel on the Cruiser that had come unattached at the front and was collecting leaves and twigs whenever we went 4WDriving (just to clarify, it was Dad that had caused the problem in the first place). I was s’posed to do this before we left and have been carrying around the double sided tape as recommended by our local Toyota professional but only got it out today. It was gonna be tricky because there were some clips, two of which slid one way and the other two slid in the opposite way. In the end (with a little guidance from our neighbours) I abandoned the idea of getting the clips to work and just applied the panel with the tape and some brute force! It seems to be holding.
We adjourned for dinner to Matso’s because it had been very pleasant on our first night. Richard and Lysnsey came with the girls after their fish and chips by the beach to join us in trying some of the beers. I had a Monsoonal Blonde which was very nice, Paul tried the cider which he was very pleased with, Richard had the mango beer – too sweet for me but he was happy with it, and Lynsey had a dark beer. The waitress saw us all trying each others’ beers and offered to bring round some tasters so we got to sample their Chilli Beer – the chilli kept tingling for ages afterwards – as well as the two that we’d had the previous night. Gemma fell asleep on Lynsey’s lap while the other girls invaded the garden and possibly terrorised the other patrons but we could neither hear nor see it so we weren’t bothered – too busy having fun ourselves.
